DJ ArtiQ / DJ MuSigma

DJ ArtiQ is born on 18th of april 1981, in Rotterdam. When he turned 11 years old, he moved with his parents to Halsteren. After he finished his "lagere school" he went to a school where he studied to be a cook. From that day of food and beverages were his second nature (so was music he discovered only months later).

On the "middelbare school" he got in contact with a friend of his sisters: Erik de Zwart (not the wellknown dutch radio DJ). In 1996 Erik made him have the first contact with a music-producingprogram called "FastTrackerII". ArtiQ bought a 286 computer for Fl. 50,- from Erik, with a small harddrive: Only 40Mb! and started to practice FastTrackerII. Days and nights ArtiQ stumbled to get familiar with the program. Not much later ArtiQ finished his first song:"Mouse1" (click to listen to the song).
It was a start, although it was a horrible one!

After he finished his first song, he had to come up with a DJ name. He called himself: "The Mental Intelligents", under the fiction-label: "Art Sound Records Halsteren". In that day he started to produce with some other friends, like Yuri van Dooremaal. Nights in the weekend they spend producing music without a purpuse. They even produced and mixed a song named:"Classics of Nix", a total explaination of how they thought about their own music at that time. ArtiQ dicovered that the qualitiy of their samples was very low, and started to buy cd`s with samples. The quality of the samples took the music-quality to a higher level!

After 2 computer-crashes, and loss of lots of songs that weren`t saved on floppy-disks, ArtiQ bought a new computer in 2000. A Pentium III, 450 mHz with 8 Gigabytes of memory. So he was ensured the computer wouldn`t crash anymore, and he was free to produce again. 1 and a half year ArtiQ produced after his dayjob, and in the weekend, just to make him feel better and maybe just one day he`ll made his brakethrough in the "Hardcore-scene". At the same time he got to know his today`s girlfriend, and his time producing music was getting lesser and lesser. Then he met DJ Kopziek. DJ Kopziek got ArtiQ back producing again. At the 11th of November 2001, ArtiQ had his first performance  (thnx to DJ Kopziek) at the "Old Actionhall" in Bergen Op Zoom. The people there were stunned about the music, and ArtiQ got his drive to produce back.

In the year 2002 ArtiQ found a new producing program, called MadTrackerII. It took a little time for ArtiQ to find out the differences between this program and FastTrackerII. But soon ArtiQ discovered that MadTrackerII was much better to produce with. Years went by, and ArtiQ stopped producing Hardcore music, and started to produce some softer songs (he called it "Softcore"). A good example for that is his 2004 remix of his former hardcore-production "Like it":  "Like it 2004 (softcore mix)".

In 2005, during his springvacation in Luxemburg, ArtiQ got an idea for a song. He took his cellphone and whispered the melody in it. When he got home from his vacation, he phoned DJ Kopziek and told him about the idea. DJ Kopziek was thrilled and came over to ArtiQ`s place directly to start the production. The production took about 6 month cause of all the work they both had at day and nighttime. But when they finished "Suburban Sickness" they were both proud of the result. A hardcores-production was born again. ArtiQ putted "Suburban Sickness"on his cellphone and tried to get it listened by a few people. All were positive about the song. "ArtiQ" was born! But ArtiQ was determend that it all could be better and with more qualitly. ArtiQ promissed to himself never to let hardcore be the main-music in his life. So he went on with all sorts of music to produce, like hardstyle, trance, Sci-Fi kinda music, and other sorts of music.

At that time he met Twinbass, and he was getting interested in their DJ skills. They got up the stage at party`s all over Walcheren. With them and DJ Kopziek they would form a DJ Team called: "The Mental Intelligents DJ Team". ArtiQ got in contact with more people in the music-scene, like DJ Sollers , Benny Royal (his old neighbour in Rotterdam). Thru DJ Sollers ( a.k.a Joyhee Chong) ArtiQ got the possibility to let his music hear to the "bigger producers" in Holland (ex. Akira). Their reaction was positive . He needed to fix some things here and there in his productions. He started to improve his producing-skils bigtime. At the same time he was intented to bring his producing-knowledge over to The Prosecuter and DJ Ritchz:Twinbass!

Today Twinbass are practicing hard to get the producing at the same level as their mixing is. But with a little help from ArtiQ, it will all be done right.
